Lactate Dehydrogenase is a vital enzyme that helps in the conversion of glucose to required energy. This enzyme is present in the liver, heart, pancreas, kidneys, skeletal muscles, lymph tissue and blood cells. Lactate Dehydrogenase Test is done to detect the presence of the Lacatate Dehydrogenase enzyme in the blood. This test is a part of the liver function test.

Lactase dehydrogenase helps in providing energy to the body and is found in almost all body cells. It is found in higher concentrations in blood , heart , muscle, kidney etc.The enzyme level gets elevated in several health conditions such as megaloblastic anemia, disseminated carcinoma, muscular disorders, renal diseases, and cirrhosis.

Test recommended

LDH test along with liver function test . This helps to diagnose haemolytic anaemia. Higher measure also indicates Cancer, Hepatitis, muscular dystrophy, Pancreatitis and sepsis.
